Markets and Systems Research

The Apex Alpha Predator - Capturing Alpha for the Intelligent Investor

Markets and Systems Research

Quantitative research. Systematic strategy development. Precision thinking for real markets.

The Markets and Systems Research Division at Great White Financial focuses on the development, testing and refinement of quantitative trading strategies. This division exists to support internal research, enhance founder methodology and prepare the foundation for systematic futures trading programs.

This division is not client-facing. It serves as the internal R&D engine behind Seppuku Trading and the future managed futures initiatives led by founder William “Billy” Lee.

Purpose of the Division

The Markets and Systems Research Division studies how markets behave, how trends form, how volatility cycles move and how risk can be measured and managed. The focus is on building disciplined, rules-based strategies that operate across global futures markets.

This division helps Great White Financial maintain a systems-driven philosophy across all divisions of the incubator.

Seppuku Trading: Quantitative R&D Unit

Seppuku Trading is the research and development arm of Great White Financial dedicated to systematic model design. Its purpose is to explore, test and refine quantitative strategies using data-driven insights.

Seppuku Trading focuses on:
• trend-following models
• volatility regime systems
• interest rate futures strategies
• statistical and spread relationships
• breakout and momentum logic
• mean reversion factors
• systematic risk controls
• position-sizing frameworks
• backtesting and walk-forward analysis
• signal stability and robustness testing

This is a long-term research initiative.
It supports future quantitative development and provides a structure for disciplined strategy creation.

Research Areas and Methodology

The division emphasizes clean, testable models that operate without emotion or prediction.
Core research areas include:

• futures market trend dynamics
• rate curve relationships
• volatility clustering and regimes
• breakout and momentum logic
• cross-market confirmation
• risk-modulated systems
• diversification across asset classes
• long-term statistical edges
• rules-based portfolio construction
• risk-of-ruin mitigation

Every model is tested for robustness, not just performance.
The focus is on stability, repeatability and long-term durability.

How This Division Supports the Incubator

Although the Models & Systems Research Division is not client-facing, it strengthens the incubator in several ways:

  1. Systems Thinking
It teaches founders to build businesses the same way quants build trading systems — with clarity, discipline and measurable structure.
  2. Decision Making Under Uncertainty
Founders benefit from the same principles used in markets: reduce noise, follow rules and focus on consistent execution.
  3. Performance and Habit Development
The precision of quantitative research aligns with the discipline taught in the Performance Division.
  4. Risk and Operational Frameworks
The R&D process models how founders should approach business risk, testing and iteration.
  5. Long-Term Growth Mindset
Quantitative systems reinforce the importance of long-term thinking, adaptability and strategy resilience.

This division enriches the incubator’s mindset and adds an elite level of analytical strength that few business builders can offer.

Founder Leadership

William “Billy” Lee has extensive background in quantitative derivatives trading. He traded interest rate futures and spread relationships at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade, where he developed a disciplined, systematic approach to markets.

Today, Billy leads the research and development efforts inside this division.
His work on quantitative strategy design supports both Great White Financial and the future launch of a fully systematic managed futures CTA program.

Important Note

The Markets and Systems Research Division provides internal research only.
It does not manage outside money, solicit investments or provide trading services.
Its purpose is solely for quantitative exploration and incubator support.
